Choosing the right product

The safest product is the one specified for the job. Tell us the surface, the conditions and the intended application so the quotation matches the requirement.

Confirm the substrate and the conditions the product will be exposed to.
Check the manufacturer data sheet for coverage, drying, curing and compatibility.
Do not mix brands or systems unless the manufacturer states they are compatible.
Where a product is rated or certified, confirm the rating matches your requirement.

Transport

Moving products safely

Chemicals, solvents and gases must travel upright, secured and separated from food or passengers.
Long sections, sheets and pipes must be secured and flagged where they overhang.
Heavy items must be loaded within the vehicle rating and secured against movement.
Keep containers closed and labelled in transit.

Handling

On receipt and in use

Read the label and the manufacturer data sheet before opening a container.
Use the personal protective equipment the manufacturer specifies.
Ventilate the area when using solvents, adhesives and coatings.
Keep chemicals away from heat, sparks and open flame.
Do not decant into unlabelled containers.

Storage

Keeping products in condition

Store in the original labelled container, closed, out of direct sunlight.
Keep within the temperature range the manufacturer states.
Store cement and boards off the ground and protected from damp.
Keep chemicals separated from food, feed and drinking water.
Observe the shelf life printed on the container.

Compliance

Markings and documentation

Where a product carries a standard marking, batch number or test certificate, that documentation is supplied with the product or is available from the manufacturer on request. Ask at the time of quoting if a specific certificate is required, so the right product is sourced.

Obra supplies products. Any work these products are used for is carried out by the customer or by people the customer engages directly, and the safe conduct of that work is their responsibility.
